The best bed defence in my opinion is (clay 32 iron to get 8 to cover the bed and 48 iron for endstone and then last layer is wood 8 gold for wood so in total it's it's 64 and 16 iron and 8 gold for the defence)

Well, obsidian is technically the best defence but let's be honest it is just not worth it.
