Vanilla Enchanments

Here's the scenario:
I have a sharpness 1 sword and a sharpness 1 book. I combine them using the inventory method. Last reset, combining it should give me a sharpness 2 sword. But this season, it only consumes my sharpness 1 book and my sword is still sharpness 1. My question is, is this part of the reset or is this a bug? Thank you.

hey vanilla enchants will not work that way you need to put sharp one on a new sword and combine them using the anvil

In order for you to combine two same enchantments, you need to put them in two separate same tools.

For example, I have a 2x Diamond sword with Sharpness 1, combining them in /magician will give me a Diamond Sword with Sharpness 2. Hopefully, you understand what I am saying.
