So, I checked it out and actually xisumavoid (a hermitcraft youtuber) invented a small part of it. Then a german server start running this minigame. Its still hypixel who brought it up though.

Hypixel first introduced it in 2017 but the concept wasn't new, it was just revamped a lot!
