U got right witht the first point , but It is not always a wasteof gold , I have used it before , it is helpful (unless you find hackers)

Yeah it is annoying and it isn't a very powerful weapon.
Its a waste of gold (10 gold ingots).
Knockback isn't that strong.
You could use those 10 ingots and 2 more to buy iron armor (iron armor is great if you don't have emeralds).
