Well, if you're talking Jartex, a couple years. Talking overall, KitPvP has been around since Multiplayer modding was about, so probably 2012-2014 it would have started growing

While this isn't fully reliable information, I believe there was still a KitPvP gamemode prior to June 17th 2017. However, mostly everyone calls this version / map / season of KitPvP as the first and original map.
On said date (June 17th 2017), there was a small beta test for a new KitPvP update. This first map lasted for 444 days. After that, there's been two other maps.
The second map (released September 4th 2018 - https://jartexnetwork.com/threads/kitpvp-reset.51554/) which lasted for 669 days. This map was a huge change for KitPvP, as it included a complete revamp of the mode. It's the map which most of the community remembers as the best map to this date. It included new features such as special sets, special potions (chugs and minis), lots of koths, and new kits.​

The third map and current map (released July 4th 2020 - https://jartexnetwork.com/kitpvp-reset/ This link might change after the new reset is officially announced) which lasted for, until today, 361 days. Something notable that was introduced in this map was a prestige system (despite it not being that useful), gkits and teams.​
