we already have these permissions exclusive to other roles.
So it's not that these other roles
need the permission, but that it's exclusive as a... perk, a sign of trust? Also, does prestige refer to permanents, or something else?
A more logical solution would be to give link perms, exclusive tags, or other benefits to Giveaway Sponsors not to take away something so simple from Donators.
Thanks for giving an alternative replacement. One thought xCooman brought up
here though: with Donator roles so common (and accessible - apparently anyone with a seasonal rank and the presence of mind to link their Discord can request the role [
- Edit: and even if I've
misunderstood seasonal ranks giving you a donator role,
you can get a permanent rank in 15 days], would new gif or media limits have to be in place? Even if you limit it on a user basis (one gif/image post per x seconds/minutes), multiply that by however many active Donators are online. Is this really what the server's Discord culture should be? (Also, is autoplay enabled by default? That'd hurt mobile users, maybe.)
Why does Jartex's General Chat need to be like "other" Discord communities? If you're trying to show something, can't it be done in the Help chatroom? Isn't your suggestion removing something special about the Donator chat, where you're better than the no-ranks? It's probably a holdover of when seasonal ranks didn't exist (citation needed), but do you want to create a
visible divide between players in General chat, however temporary that may be (what with the ease of getting the role)?
Also brings up the question for staff - why does Donator Chat have Media/Gif perms, but not General? Is the Donator Role that good of a barrier of entry? They have the permissions there, you said, so is it just a matter of copying what works there, or is there a reason for the division?
Imma litereally join jartex on an alt and start voting, so you can see, 15 days of voting = 1000 Jartex Iron = Perm Iron rank = Donator role
Bet, i will create an alt and vote for it
(
Edit: Thanks for the correction, I added strikethrough to where I'd mentioned seasonal ranks, and I think I clarified where it should say permanent ranks instead.)
Aryaniscool
understands that
seasonal permanent ranks can be gotten within 15 days (
or less - giveaways, crates, ingame trading) and the role can then be claimed on Discord.
His question is, where does a new player (with no previous knowledge) figure all this out in exactly 15 days.
- The time is arbitrary (time it takes to get a
seasonal permanent rank), but it's a valid question - what person that joins Jartex will
know to request a donator role if they've only been on the server 15 days or less? You creating an alt proves
his point, because you're not a
new player on a
new account, you're an
old player with
a new account.
If you're new, you
don't know anything. If you're not invested in the server, you can quit or join another server. And if you are invested, where do you find out about the role/rank/voting? Will a new player
really munchkin JartexNetwork™?
I agree with Aryaninnit that it's unintuitive (for me at least), and how often does Jartex tell you
ingame that you can (specifically) get a Donator role on
Discord? I don't mean the /discord announcement to link your account, but anything that says "donator role". And sure, everyone has discord nowadays, but will every new player do all these things?:
1) Link their account to their Discord,
2) Vote for 15 days,
3a) Use Iron Currency to buy a
Seasonal Rank Edit, see below reply: Permanent Rank (instead of a seasonal key, etc).
3b) Alternatively, according to
this post, claim a Seasonal Rank through crates, giveaways, or ingame trading.
4) Find out that they can get a Donator role on Discord because of their seasonal
or permanent rank.
All to
5) Get their Donator role on Discord.
Without being
told? They'll figure it out on their own eventually, but you don't know these things immediately. I know many Jartex players are trilingual+ despite being under 25 yo (and other big brain feats), but I think you overestimate the average person.
