Where to get wood?

Hey guys,

I want to start survival, but when I hop into RTP, the area of trees have completely been wiped. I tried 3 more times, and the areas have almost no trees. Any good method to get wood easily?

Also, is this a good time to start playing, or shall I wait to a reset?

i guess you can do /kits to get essential stuff like wood and all
