What is reaction score?

So im new to forums and dont know what is this reaction score system and how it works.Can anyone tell me in replies?

its basically
if someone gives you a positive reaction, you'll have +1 reaction points,
if someone gives you a negative reaction, you'll get -1 reaction points

for instance, I have 143 reaction score, if someone were to give a positive reaction, it'll be 144

but if someone, say, disliked one of my posts, it'll drop to 142
