Repairing/combining items

I tried combining and repairing some items but it wouldnt let me. Any tips cuz i cant figure it out

If you're thinking to combine two swords on the Anvil in Spawn it will not work, if I remember Anvil does not work even if you combine things other than Pickaxe and Swords.

Hello KoneProAirgobrrr in prison you should be able to to combine items or repair them but if you cant that means one thing
