No matter how much protection iron armor has, besides protection 4 (which is about equal to unenchanted diamond), unenchanted diamond armor will be better. Not necessarily a buff as in normal half of the players will get some diamond armor if not majority.

It is pretty sad how ptw the rank kits are in normal mode. I will say, they can be beaten if you think outside the box and outplay them, but yeah, you're just not able to beat them in a straight up fight unless they're garbage.
