After follow strategy tips like rushing to your opponents, and getting diamonds for upgrades, u should try watching tutorials on how to pvp on youtube. Also go on practise gamemode and pvp with people to practise. That way you can spend more time exploring the mechanics and practise straifing (moving left and right so your opponent has a hard time landing hits on you).

Other than that, spend diamonds on important upgrades such as Sharpened swords, and reinforced armors. Also keep in mind that your opponents having better swords give you more damage... So try helping urself by getting armor, or equal or better sword, or eat golden apple.
