From what I know cobweb is the most efficient way to get string currently, since in SBD spider's loot isn't string anymore (and string isn't available in the shop).

The fastest way to break cobweb into string imo is placing it in water or flowing water into it. Hope this helps,

As The_W mentioned, you can use water to break a lot of cobwebs at the same time, as this is way faster than breaking all the cobwebs individually with your sword. Good luck and make sure to dm me on discord if you have any other questions: babyplatypus#9999
