Good news for you, The Key finder gem is now fixed you can drag a Key finder gem in your pickaxe if you have one.

Flexier Requesting thread lock.

Just drag and drop the gem on your pickaxe. There's a chance it fail or work, which will then apply the gen to your pickaxe. You can view the gems you have applied by shift + right clicking your mouse button which will open up your pickaxe menu. Followed by clicking on the ender eye located in the top line.
