It really depends on whoever views the section. Some staff used to leave them open for a few days intentionally, probably to test the appealant's patience (which I myself didn't follow). However, while the verdict greatly depends on the appeal's strength, the vast majority gets denied.

Appeals are quite different than applications in terms of acceptance. An appeal is either strong enough or too weak, it can't be mediocre, unlike applications, where performing well in a certain paragraph could be an offset by any weaknesses in other parts of the application.
