By gems do you means a factions specific feature or the gems in the minigame lobby with which you buy lootboxs ?

I hope you are talking about the lootbox gems

Best way to get those are as follows:
1] Open Lootboxes:
This goes circular but the best way to get gems is to open lootboxs and when you get some cosmetic which you already have unlocked you will be rewarded with gems. You get more gems for more rare item (for ex. mythic gives you 45 gems while common gives you 5 gems only)
This also means that you now need methods to get lootboxs which are also included below*
2] Contracts/Mission:
Their are some contracts or mission which have gems as reward. You can easily do those and collect them
3] Voting*:
You can get voting crystal by voting for Jartex and later spend them to get lootboxes and in turn gems
4] Contracts/Mission*:
Their are some contracts or mission which have lootboxs as reward. You can easily do those and collect lootboxs
5] Playing Games*:
Just play the minigame and there a slight chance you will get lootbox that game. You can increase lootbox booster to increase that chance
6] Mail Deliveries*:
Deliveries give you lots of lootboxs and in turn lots of gems. However, the output here depends a lot on what rank you got

This gems currently can be used for only two thing:
1] Buy cosmetics from cosmetic menu which can also be unlocked from lootboxs and arent exclusive to buying with gems
2] Buy lootboxs with the most expensive being epic lootbox for 175 gems

I can tell you about bedwars ones
Others have a similar pattern with different content

Missions have a cool down rather than a deadline and mission time.
Once finished they are in cooldown for about 1day to 1month
They are chill challenges, ez, and mostly based on grind.
There is no risk at all in mission while rewards are a little low

Then comes contracts for which you need coins to accept on first
Once you finish the contract you are rewarded with an even greater amount
If you fail tho, you lose half of the coins and other half are refunded
Its a high risk, high risk challenge

You can easily do them both and win things you need like gems and loot boxes
