Redstone questions

Whats the deal with redstone? Why doesnt it work the way it should? What is changed? Is there a list of changes somewhere? It is very frustrating spending tons of time building something just for it not to work as intended for some reason.

There are various plugins in the server which limits few redstone contraptions tho many of the simple redstone needed to make most of the farms work. The plugins r there in order to reduce the lag and stuff.
