What would happen if I changed my IGN? The broadcasts say it's not supported, but it doesn't say what'll happen.

Your stats will be gone, because your stats are stored through your name.

When taking a new username, this indeed means that your stats, inventories and ranks won't go over to your new account. If you have ranks, then you can buy a rank transfer on the store, but other stuff won't get transferred.
