How to I claim a perm rank when I have a ssn one?

I have already claimed a ssn skydonor rank but my buddy bought me a perm Skydonor rank how do I claim it sense it wont let me?

If you already have a seasonal rank of the same kind as permanent one you want to claim, you can not.
My best guess is that the game registers your rank as already owned so you can not redeem another one.
