Getting only 1 to 2 hits per second on mobs

I have seen many players getting a lot of hits per second on mob. But even if i try to go crazy at clicking the left mouse button it only gives me 1 to 2 hits per second on mobs.
Is anyone else facing the same problem? What is the solution to it?
Your help on the matter will be much appreciated.

If they were hitting a lot per second, they could have been using hacks. If you see it again you should report that person here so he can get punished.

Semi old thread but: If standing inside mobs and changeing to the 1.8.9 ( recommended version ) u can hit them the fastest way.

Change version, look at the mobs in a different way, or get a better pc. When I use a better pc it lets me hit faster.
