The year was 1912, the Serbs, Greeks and Bulgarians united, creating the Balkan Alliance. In many battels (which Serbs dominated the most) they kicked Ottoman Empire (Turkey) from Balkan and Europe. Then it came to the land, AustriaHungary was in charge.

They took Albanian lands (that belonged to Serbia, seeing that Serbia freed that land) and give it independence. To calm down the Serbs because they took 60% of their land, they gave them the land of North Macedonia. Then Bulgaria got mad, because they thought it belonged to them. So in 1913 while Serbia and Bulgaria were under an alliance and a non-agression pack, they backstabbed the Serbs.

Serbs together with the Greeks and Romanians destroyed the Bulgarians, after that they all took some land from Bulgaria, and that's how the first 2 Balkan wars started and ended.

Then comes 1914, this is the year when ww1 started. The war started due to a Serbian (patriotic Serb) killing the prince of Austria-Hungary.
The reason he killed the prince was because Serbs were under great oppression in their empire and they didn't give them a chance to unify the south slavs (a dream of Serbs).

Once the Serb killed the prince, Austria-Hungary sent a ultimatum to Serbia that wasn't possible to fulfill.
Austria-Hungary announced war to Serbia. Our great ally Russia stood behind us saying "If you attack Serbia, we will attack you". Then France and UK stood with Russia and Serbia.

War started, Serbia took the first win of the allies. Seeing that they were fighting a much stronger enemy, they were holding off very well. Germany saw that Serbia isn't gonna fall as easily as they thought, they stepped in and attacked with a much larger force.

Serbia not being able to defend itself get's taken over. (The German generals made graves for the dead Serbian soilders out of respect, they respected how strong they were. They said that Serbs were the strongest Europian warrios, and that they wished that they were allies and not enemies).

Serbs refusing to occupation, they fled (the army, government and people) over Albania, not knowing where they'll end up. This is confirmed the hardest thing a army/nation went thought in ww1. Reaching the sea, Russia demanded that the UK saves Serbs, if they didn't Russia would leave the war (once again proving our brotherly love).

They were rescued, and went to Greek islands to rest and prepare for taking back Serbia. A lot of them died.
Serbs along with Greeks and the French broke through the Solun front (Greece) and went to rescue back Serbia.

They won.
Serbia was considered the greatest warrior, they lost 1/3 of their men, and 22% of their population in that war. They were indeed the greatest warrior of ww1.

As a reward from UK, France and Russia they were given a "prize". They got to choose 2 things, do they want to create "Greater Serbia" or "Yugoslavia" (Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes).

The Serbian generals weren't selfish, they created a kingdom for South Slavs, not for themselves.
Serbs created Yugoslavia, they helped in ww1. And MANY streets to this day in France, Russia, UK and Greece carry names of Serbian ww1 generals.
And every memorial of ww1, Serbian president gets first row and a special thank you.
